What Did He Say? (Remastered)

Victor Wooten What Did He Say? (Remastered) Lyrics
1.Heaven Is Where The Heart Is

Lyricist:Joe Turner

Close your eyes, my son
Bow your head down
There is not a time or a place
That I am not around

Through all your hardships
And your most difficult times
Something always pulled you through
The hand you felt was mine

If you won't
Do fire there
Well listen to me then

You'll find it looking out
You must look within
Heaven is where the heart is
Oh, don't you know
Heaven is where the heart is

He's still my child
Now open up your mind
I know the place your looking for
And it's not hard to find

Don't you try to hard
(No no no)
Just always do what's right
(You know I will)
I'm always here for you
(Your always there)
To help you gain the sight

You've been looking for me
But in the wrong place
But look in the mirror
Staring me
Heaven is where the heart is

I want you to know
That I'm always there for you
You just do you best
There is nothing else to do

Heaven is where the heart is
Heaven is where the heart is
Heaven is where the heart is
Heaven is where the heart is

Close your eyes my son
And bow your head down
There is not a time or place
That I am not around
If you won't find heaven
But listen to me there

You won't find it looking out
You must look within

Heaven is where the heart is
Heaven is where the heart is
Heaven is where the heart is
Heaven is where the heart is

2.What Did He Say?

I once had a girl,
Or should I say
She once had me.
She showed me her room,
Isn't it good?
Norwegian wood.
She asked my to stay and told me sit anywhere,
So I looked around and I noticed there wasn't a chair.
I sat on a rug
Biding my time,
Drinking her wine.
We talked until two,
And then she said,
'It's time for bed'.
She told me she worked in the morning and started to laugh,
I told her I didn't, and crawled off to sleep in the bath.
And when I awoke
I was alone,
This bird has flown,
So I lit a fire,
Isn't it good?

3.What You Won't Do For Love

I guess you wonder where I've been
I searched to find the love within
I came back to ley you know
Got a thing for you
And I can't let go

My friends wonder what is wrong with me
Well I'm in a daze from your love you see
I came back to let you know
Got a thing for you
And I can't let go

Some people go around the world for love
And they may never find what they dream of
What you won't do, do for love
You tried everthing
But you don't give up
In my world only you
Make me do for love
What I would not do

My friends wonder what is wrong with me
Well I'm in a daze from your love you see
I came back to let you know
Got a thing for you
And I can't let go

And though I only want the best it's true
I can't believe the things I do for you

What you won't do, do for love
You've tried everything
But you won't give up
In my world only you
Make me do for love
What I would not do

4.Cherokee

(Instrumental)

5.Don't Wanna Cry

6.The Loneliest Monk

Walks the street at night

The loneliest Monk

Play the wrong notes right
The loneliest Monk

The loneliest Monk
wasn't short wasn't tall

The loneliest Monk
wasn't lonely at all

The loneliest Monk
round and round at his place

The loneliest Monk
flawless living bitter taste

The loneliest Monk
Keeps his checks to himself

The loneliest Monk
tter memories in a shelf

The loneliest Monk
Used chopsticks to eat ice cream
saws the things that go unseen
knows exactly what i mean

The loneliest Monk
never renatured form his rent

The loneliest Monk
never cared that he was strange

The loneliest Monk
Made the most of what he got

The loneliest Monk
He chased the straight line not

The loneliest Monk
knew the rules but kept them bent

The loneliest Monk
he never tells but here's a hint

The loneliest Monk
spends on solid trampoline
brushes his teeth with gasoline
knows exactly what I mean

The loneliest Monk
he is the holder of the key

The loneliest Monk
he is a mentor to be

The loneliest Monk

8.Norwegian Wood

I once had a girl, or should I say, she once had me...
She showed me her room, isn't it good, norwegian wood?

She asked me to stay and she told me to sit anywhere,
So I looked around and I noticed there wasn't a chair.

I sat on a rug, drinking her wine, biting my time,
We talked until two and then she said, 'It's time for bed'

She told me she worked in the morning and started to laugh.
I told her I didn't and crawled off to sleep in the bath

And when I awoke, I was alone, this bird had flown
So I lit a fire, isn't it good, norwegian wood.

'Cause it's my life,
and I can do what I wanna' do.

I can do this,
I can do that,
I can be white,
I can be black.
I can be thin,
I can be fat,
I can be pitter,
I can be pat.

I can be...

Sing it with me one mo' time,
it's my life.

(That's all.)

13.The Sojourn Of Arjuna

So Arjuna and Krishna you know they're hanging out on the
battlefield
Arjuna is like tired of war, he's trying to get out of this
battle
so Krishna drops a little science on him, he says you know it's
the way of
spiritual growth
a man must go forth from where he stands
he cannot jump to the absolute, he must evolve toward it (can
you hear that)
Krishna says at any given moment in time we are what we are
Arjuna we have to accept the consequences of being ourselves
and only through this acceptance can we begin to evolve further
we may select the battleground but we cannot avoid the battle

so Krishna tells Arjuna it follows therefore that every action
under certain
circumstances and for certain people may actually be a stepping
stone to
spiritual growth

Arjuna is to do the best he knows
in order to pass beyond that best to better
how can we prescribe our neighbors to be perfect
when it is so hard to know our own heart
the pacifist must respect Arjuna
Arjuna must respect the pacifist.
both are going toward the same goal
if they are really sincere
there's an underlying solidarity between them
which can be expressed
each one follows without compromise the path upon which he finds
himself
for we can only help others to do their duty
by doing what we ourselves believe to be right
it is the one supremely social act.

so Kirshna's reply to Arjuna occupies the rest of the story
it deals not only with Arjuna's immediate personal problem
but the whole nature of action
the meaning of life
and the aims for which man must struggle here on earth
at the end of the conversation Arjuna has changed his mind
he's ready to fight, he's ready to go ahead on
it is the way of spiritual growth
a man must go forward from where he stands
he cannot jump to the absolute
and the battle begins...

by doing what we ourselves believe to be right
it is the one supremely social act.
